The second is dated 23rd October 1878 appointing him to the rank of Captain. This appears to be signed by George (Duke of Cambridge).... The third dated 17th October 1914 as a major in the Royal Engineers.... Two further commissions are included appointing Francis Frith Bell a Second Lieutenant in the 1st Monmouthshire Regiment 10th June 1915 and later a 2Lt in the Army Service Corps 25th April 1915. GC.
